Shawn Sheehy is a partner at Holtzman Vogel, where his practice focuses on First Amendment, redistricting, and Telephone Consumer Protection Act litigation. In addition, Shawn advises clients on ethics and campaign finance and represents clients in response to FEC complaints, complaints from state regulators, and state attorneys general investigations.
Shawn recently assisted in the successful challenge of New York’s statutory contribution limits to independent expenditure committees, and successfully challenged New York’s petition witness residency requirement. He has successfully defended political committees in discovery disputes in redistricting litigation and has authored and co-authored multiple U.S. Supreme Court briefs. For example, he authored the winning brief at the Supreme Court of Virginia which led to a landmark decision defining the boundaries of the Speech or Debate Clause in Virginia’s Constitution.
