Holtzman Vogel Adds Former Arizona Deputy Solicitor General Drew Ensign
Holtzman Vogel Baran Torchinsky and Josefiak PLLC (“Holtzman Vogel”), a nationally recognized law firm specializing in political, regulatory and litigation matters, announced today that attorney Drew Ensign has joined the firm’s Appellate, Commercial Litigation, Election Law, Environmental Litigation, and Constitutional Law practices as partner in its Phoenix, Arizona and Washington D.C. offices. Ensign’s hire supports Holtzman Vogel’s ongoing expansion in Arizona, where he will be based.
Ensign joins Holtzman Vogel after more than five years in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, where he held the positions of Deputy Solicitor General and Section Chief of the Civil Appeals and Federalism Section. He was a legal force during his tenure with the state, leading many notable cases such as Brnovich v. DNC and Arizona v. Mayorkas. During his tenure, Ensign oversaw all civil appellate matters for the State of Arizona and supervised over 400 briefs annually. His appellate law experience extends beyond Arizona’s appellate courts to the U.S. Supreme Court and ten federal circuit courts.

In addition to successfully defending Arizona’s election statutes in various cases, Ensign has a proven track record in litigation and environmental law, having prepared successful petitions for certiorari and merits briefs in two Supreme Court environmental cases. He also led a 24-state challenge to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s termination of the Title 42 System in Louisiana v. CDC and a 14-state challenge to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Vaccine Mandate in Biden v. Missouri during his career. Ensign’s history of delivering favorable outcomes for his clients is a testament to his dedication and commitment to excellence.
Ensign earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from Duke University.
